DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONTACT LENSES

1. Multifocal contact lenses: Like bifocal glasses or progressive lenses, they contain 2 prescriptions, one for near vision and one for distance vision. Certain multifocal lenses can also help control myopia.
2. Daily contact lenses: These are convenient in that no cleaning and disinfecting is needed as a new pair is used every day. They can help patient with dry or sensitive eyes. They are highly breathable and very comfortable a wide range of prescriptions.
3. Scleral lenses: Typical contact lenses sit on the cornea while sclera lenses are designed to sit on the sclera. These are great for patients with irregular corneas, severe dry eyes, or anyone who had difficulties wearing other contact lenses products.
4. Hybrid and Toric lenses: These lenses are specially designed to rectify for astigmatism. Toric lenses has two powers, one for distance and one for astigmatism. They come in soft disposable contact lenses, and daily disposable contact lenses. Hybrid lenses are also a good choice for patients with astigmatism. The outer portion of the lens is soft while the center is rigid, combining the clarity of a rigid lens and the wearing comfort of a soft lens. Both these lenses do take longer to fit due to the complexity of the products.
